Production Proposal for Genna Matthew

Let's create something that you will be really proud of.

Hi Genna,

You’ve written songs you believe in, you have a dream for the sound, so now it’s time to collaborate with someone to bring your music to its fullest potential.

On your recording I bring all my resources as a producer, composer, and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist to help you turn your vision into an amazing sounding recording that you and your fans can enjoy for the rest of your lives.

What You Get

THE IMPORTANT STUFF

Song Development

In folk, roots, Americana, rock, and blues the song is the most important part of the production. If you’re recording an album or a single, you might have a number of songs to choose from. I help pick the right songs to record and then work with you on the arrangement. This might include lyrics, chord progressions, melodic changes, or structure. I offer honest, trusted feedback which gives you the opportunity to refine your songwriting and grow as an artist.

Vision

Whether you’re doing a full album or a single song, it’s vital to have a clear aesthetic vision and project goals. Through pre-production conversations, listening to other artists that have inspired your work, and exploring a variety of instrumentation and different approaches, I help you crystallize a vision for the music.

Guitars and more

My usual process is to take your scratch and orchestrate layers over top. These might include electric guitars, acoustic guitars, resonator, mandolin, or banjo (or a combination).

Some songs might need a melodic hook or riff. Some tunes need a great solo. I’m happy to work with you to find the right approach.

The song might also need other instrument such as bass, drums, or keyboards. If so, I will find you the best players for the job and guide the recording process.

Professional Sound

I record in a professional studio with a world class analog recording chain. The room is tuned for studio recordings. The gear list includes beautiful mics, preamps, instruments, and guitar amps.

NOT SO OBVIOUS STUFF

Project management, accountability, and collaboration

Tackling a recording is a big project with a lot of steps. Doing it alone is really tough as there are a lot of technical, artistic, and logistical challenges. I help artists incrementally break down high level goals into bite sized tasks so they can accomplish their dream sound on time and on budget.

Authenticity

Stand out from the crowd by creating something truly authentic to you. One of the most common pieces of feedback I get from artists is that they feel safe creating with me. Making art can be vulnerable and I strive for the process to be meaningful, organic, and super fun.

Here's what is NOT included

These are the things that are not included in the price. While not part of my fee, I will help you find the right people and to help guide the process.

Session Musicians

I play a lot of instruments, but I don’t play all of them! If your songs needs drums, keyboards, bass, or other instrumentalists, I will find amazing players (some who may have played with your fav artists).

Mixing

I will send you production mixes of your songs. They will have the sonic imprint of what we’re going for, but aren’t intended as final release-ready mixes. I will find the right person for your music and budget and be there to guide the process.

Mastering

Mastering is final step to make an song or album release-ready. Mastering engineers provide the final set of ears on the song ensure the mix is clear on all devices and platforms. I will find the right person for your music and budget and help you gather the information you will need to ensure you receive all royalties for your music.
