After a stint playing in Dione Taylor’s live outfit “The Backsliderz”, Dione and I began writing together. I wanted to capture some of the huge, infectious, and raw energy of that was happening live, with some ethereal sounds and more intimate compositions that I was drawn to.

Backliderz (2015)

We wrote two songs together initially and both of us felt really excited about the connection. She brought me on board as the producer, and a year and a half long collaboration began to make a full length recording.

I could not be more excited about the result.

The collection of songs, performances, and production is the result of many, many hours and a great team including: Mark Mcintyre (bass, snyth), Lyle Molzan (drums, percussion), and Tim Abraham (mixer). Dione sang like crazy on the record and I played every fretted instrument I own.

Additional instrumentation by Jeff McLeod (B3 organ), Jessica Deutsch and (violin, viola).

Here’s a little teaser of Dione laying down a vocal part live in my studio. Raw and unmixed, but I hope it gives an idea of the vibe.
